Chica Guapa Image Consulting and Studio Elle Salon would like to say THANK YOU to all the "swappers" who attended last night's 3rd Annual Clothing Swap event held at Eli's on Whitney! Once again, all attendees had a fun evening and all walked away with some great new items for their wardrobe. Click here to view photos!

We also managed to beat our monetary goal from last year, for our donation to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation, which this year will be made in the name of Carmel Valentino, an amazing woman (and my mother-in-law!) who battled breast cancer - and won! As women, it is important for us to come together and continue to try to make a difference in these causes that affect us so deeply.  For more information on the Susan G. Another great event for a great cause!  Dress For Success Hartford is hosting their 7th Annual Capital Catwalk. It's a great evening of fashion, delicious food, local tv celebs, and inspirational stories from women who have benefited from Dress For Success.  I'll be volunteering at the event, and hope you will consider purchasing a ticket and joining in the fun!Both men and women can attend and support this great cause! Click here for tickets.

To Prime Or Not To Prime?

Just sharing one of my favorite products! Smashbox's Photo Finish Foundation Primer. It's super silky, non greasy texture glides on to your skin, getting your face primed and ready for your makeup application. While it's main purpose is to help fill in fine lines and create a smooth canvas, it supply of vitamins and anti-oxidants will provide essential nourishment to your skin and help to inhibit the destruction of collagen. A perfect product as we head into the warmer months!

You can purchase Smashbox products on their website, or at your local Ulta store. If you have a regular skin care or beauty consultant, it is likely they  have a similar product, which you should definitely inquire about and give it a try!

An Afternoon In Brooklyn

Great shopping at Bird in Williamsburg!

On a recent trip back from visiting friends in New Jersey, my husband and I made a long desired pit stop in two of my favorite neighborhoods to shop and eat in Brooklyn- Williamsburg and Carroll Gardens.  My first stop in Williamsburg was in the Brook Farm General Store, where I scored the perfect ravioli cutter! It's a little bit off the beaten path, but worth the jaunt! Some of my other favorite shops for clothing and accessories were Bird , Joinery, and if you have your fella with you, be sure to stop in Hickoree's Hard Goods, where you'll meet Emil, the owner and designer of the Hillside Tie.

Next stop was Carroll Gardens, and to visit one of my favorites boutiques, Lucia. A couple other great shops were Neda and Flirt, for some great vintage finds.  We ended our adventures with a  delicious dinner at Fragole on Court Street. One of the best pappardelle bolognese I've ever tasted!

The Tuxedo Jacket

Ladies and Gents...tuxedo jackets are all the rage! I've always coveted one of my own, and with Spring just around the corner, I see a creamy white one hanging in my closet very soon!

Right in line with the blazer trend, the tuxedo jacket can show your unique sense of style, but with some added sophistication and glamour. It's a great look paired with your favorite jean for a night out. Or keep it dressy with a sleek pair of pants or throw over your best LBD.  Keep in mind, the old tux you got back in the 90's may not be the slim fit you need to achieve this current look! Bring it to your favorite tailor or Image Consultant for a bit of advice!
